UNITSPAN ARCHITECTURAL SYSTEMS

Chatsworth, California

This 136,000 square foot industrial building had to serve two functions, both practically and aesthetically.

The building had to meet two owner criteria. First, it had to provide prestigious accommodations for the company's headquarters and executive offices. Second, it had to house production and warehousing of the company's products. Therefore the building is made up of two structural systems; the office area is steel frame construction while the production/warehouse area is tilt-up concrete construction.

The steel frame structure is the company's headquarters and symbolically emphasizes the company's architectural products.  The design is very classic in the Miesien tradition utilizing a Vierendeel truss design with cruciform columns.

We have been asked to name the style of this project. Our only answer is: "Timeless".
